OK, scusate il ritardo, cmq vi annuncio che fino a sabato sarò in ferie, quindi avete il mio aiuto garantito! Innanzitutto grazie kappolo, hai colto al volo il mio invito e a quanto pare hai fatto proprio centro. Ora mi studio con calma la lettera da spedire a dunenovels.com, e questo pomeriggio gliela invio. Come primo passo è l'ideale, dopodichè, quando il quadro della situazione sarà abbastanza chiaro, potremo mettere in contatto direttamente la Ferrara edizioni con la Herbert Limited Partnership.
Intanto volevo chiederti una cosa kappolo: posso forwardare a dunenovels.com le mail che ti ha mandato il rappresentante della casa editrice (ovviamente le tradurrò in inglese! )

I am writing to you about the italian state of publication of Dune Prequels. As it has been verified, Mondadori has no intention to publish "House Corrino" and the following novels on the Dune universe, so Dune Italia.com engaged itself to find another editor interested in doing this.
At last, one of our user came in contact with Ferrara Edizioni (http://www.ferraraedizioni.it), a publishing house of Torino specialized in fantasy, horror and science fiction, with its series "FantaNET". Marco Zolin, maintainer of FantaNET and responsible of marketing of Ferrara, replied that they are certainly interested in publishing the Dune prequels in Italy, but he asked for explanations concerning, essentially, who actually holds the rights of Dune in Italy, and what are your expectations about first circulation, distribution, promotion and compensation.

As I told you in my previous e-mail, it is still a little bit early to lose our balance and maybe give to you false hopes. But in theory, it is clear that there is the possibility! I don't know directly the books you are talking about, but the Saga of Dune is very famous, and for a little publishing house as the ours, it could really be a good occasion in terms of renown restoration, before of economic restoration (always uncertain). But it is clear that first many questions should be answered.
First, on our hand, we should know precisely the situation of copyright. Then we should know exactly what are the authors' legitimate expectations in terms of first circulation, distribution, promotion, and, obviously, compensation (Mondadori and Ferrara have definitely different means). It is clear that many of these questions should be posed directly to them, but since you have already come in contact with them, I think that you can tell me something.
Moreover, there are many things that I want to discuss with the representatives of the association [He means the Dune Italia association] about the step next to the publication.
It is obvious that such a kind of project would be developed pointing first to a precise target. If Mondadori has renounced, I deduce that the great public has not well welcomed the previous publications and that these books could find buyers mainly into a niche of aficionados. To us (little publishing house, with target, means and expectations very different in comparison to the big publishing houses), this is not a problem, on the contrary, we always work only for niches, but when it is a matter of huge investments (in comparison to our dimension), we want to know well this niche, to estimate precisely its potentialities. Potentialities in terms of interest (and so future buying), but also enthousiasm, to have support on the promotional side (organisations of conventions, lectures, discussions on the internet... all that can grow interest about the publication). All this just to start. Then there would be all the problems concerning translation... but here we are in an advanced step.
This is to make you understand how much it is important to us to have first a direct contact with someone who represents you, and, in a second moment, to be able to speak directly to the authors. Even because, I think, wheter you and the authors will have as many questions to ask us. In such a kind of project it is important the better understanding, to avoid useless work and leave unsatisfied one of the parts who takes part to the project.

Vabbè, ormai lo dico : si tratta di consolidare la nostra presenza su dunenovels.com, in particolare sul forum lì attivato da qualche tempo. Mi sono già iscritto da un mese e mezzo e ho postato qualche messaggio, avendo modo di conoscere alcuni dei frequentatori (tra cui il moderatore Byron Merritt, colui che forwarda le mail dei fan a BH e KJA).
Invito quindi cortesemente chiunque abbia conoscenza della lingua inglese di registrarsi sul forum, e ovviamente di partecipare alle discussioni (). Non è necessario buttarsi a capofitto in 3d "duri" in cui si parla della filosofia o di dettagli della saga duniana (che quando avviamo su Dune Italia inevitabilmente fanno venire l'emicrania! ), ci sono molti topic divertenti e semplici a cui tutti possono partecipare (ad esempio, uno di quelli che va per la maggiore adesso è "Dune Cover Battle", in cui si votano le copertine delle edizioni straniere dei libri di Dune).
Ciò non servirà direttamente al nostro scopo per la pubblicazione di House Corrino in Italia, ma sarà sicuramente utile per far conoscere Dune Italia all'estero e, inoltre, mantenere buoni contatti con la Herbert Limited Partenrship e gli autori.
Naturalmente, sarebbe meglio che i volenterosi che si iscrivono su dunenovels.com facciano capire bene di provenire dal sietch di Dune Italia: a parte la voce "località" sotto l'avatar dell'utente, io ho aggiunto in firma la userbar del nostro sietch, per fare un esempio.
Insomma, c'è qualche pazzo Fedaykin pronto a seguirmi in quest'avventura?!
